Post Op Rehab
Introduction
What Does Post Op Rehab Involve?
Physiotherapy plays a key role in helping patients overcoming numerous types of surgical procedures.
During the acute phase we will help reduce the risk of post-operative complications. Our physiotherapist will highlight the key signs of post-operative infections, as well as prescribe exercises so as to reduce the risk of blood clots. They will also educate patients on the post-operative precautions/restrictions associated with their specific procedure. Clarification will be given on post-operative weight bearing status, as well as offer instructions on how to use assistive devices such as crutches.
During the later phases of post-operative rehabilitation, we aim to return patients to their prior level of function, including successful return to work, recreational activities and competitive sport.
