Core Stability
Introduction
What Is Core Stability?
Core stability has become an in vogue concept in fitness and health in recent years. In its traditional sense, core stability refers to active muscles stabilising the spine and pelvis. These include the deep/local muscles that provide segmental stability and the superficial/global muscles that allows trunk movement. They assist in providing stability during more physically demanding and complex tasks.
The Benefits
Why Work On Your Core Stability?
There is emerging evidence to suggest that possessing a ‘good’ core can facilitate recovery from injury and even protect against injuries in the first place. Here at Activate Physiotherapy, we often incorporate core stability exercises as part of our management of several musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Our physiotherapists can work alongside the strength and conditioning coaches to provide a personalised core stability programme for our clients to help them meet their health and performance goals.
