Joint Mobilisations and Manipulations
Introduction
What Is Joint mobilisations and manipulations?
Joint mobilisation and manipulation is a specific form of treatment used to restore optimal function and reduce pain. Mobilisations are passive movements that exist on a continuum of varying speeds and amplitudes (e.g. small-amplitudeshigh velocity or large-amplitudeslow velocity therapeutic movements), whereas manipulation refers to a passive, high velocity, low amplitude thrust applied to a joint complex
within its anatomical limit.
Both of these can be used over a variety of different joints and along with other modalities can be used to effectively to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
