Cardiorespiratory Rehab
Introduction
What Is Cardiorespiratory Rehab?
Cardiorespiratory rehabilitation is a specialist area of physiotherapy that aims to optimise function in patients suffering from cardiorespiratory disease or those recovering from cardiac surgeries.
Cardiorespiratory rehabilitation programmes are often multipronged involving a combination of physical exercise, weight management, nutritional advice, stress management and monitoring and control of other comorbities. Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy also encompasses prevention, with the above approaches also used with those individuals considered to have a high risk of cardiorespiratory disease, including among others diabetes, and people with a high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol.
